Cornmeal Muffins (eggless)

Hi !!!

Hope all of you are enjoying your weekend.

Here in Delhi its very hot. I  don't feel like going out until & unless its very important & urgent. I have been planning to watch a movie for sometime now, but due to this scorching heat I dropped the idea and decided to laze around at home, watching Tv and doing the regular household chores.

I was just rummaging  through my grocery stock for some kitchen items, and surprisingly I found this packet of cornmeal which I had bought during winters and which I had totally forgotten about. Impromptu,  I decided to make something sweet out of it. Little bit of net surfing &I came across this super easy muffin recipe shared by nisha madhulika in youtube.

Her recipes are quite simple and very easy to follow. So I tried out this muffin recipe & as you can see,  it came out quite soft and delicious.

These eggless recipes come in quite handy .... when you ran out of eggs or especially on  days like mon, tues & thurs when I don't eat eggs/non veg & on my kids insistence I need to prepare baked items.

Now coming to the muffins you will need the following elements:

Ingredients

Cornmeal - 1/2 cup
All purpose flour - 1/2 cup
Powdered sugar - 1/2 cup
Baking powder - 3/4 tsp
Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
Curd - 1/2 cup in room temp.
Butter - 1/4 cup
Vanilla essence - 1/2 - 1 tsp

Method

Pre-heat your oven at 180 deg C

First of all we need to mix  the wet ingredients ie butter & curd together and whisk it properly. In a separate bowl we will mix the dry stuff ie the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking soda & baking powder. After this we will bring both these mixtures together and mix them properly. In the end add vanilla essence accordingly. You can also add nuts to give it more crunch.

Now grease your muffin moulds with butter / oil and transfer the batter. According to the recipe we need to bake them for 10-15 min. , but mine took a bit longer...... around 20-25 min. Just check it with a toothpick, if it comes out clean then its ready otherwise you need to give it some more time.

Take them out of the oven and bring it to room temp. before de-moulding it.

TA.. DA your muffins are ready ......

Don't they look scrumptious ?????

Bottle Makeover ..... Once again

Hi friends !!!!

I hope you all had a great weekend.

Today I am going to share another project in bottle makeover series. I simply love decorating  these used  bottle. Hopefully, I would be able to adjust these in my already over loaded  home decor.

This is how it looked before.

I have again used shilpkar to make decorative flowers and leaves

I painted the background black. For this I used normal black color that is used to paint doors / windows.

I have painted the flowers/leaves with acrylic colors and finished it off with clear varnish on the same & this is how it looks now. I hope you like it.

I would also like to share few pics of my sketching that I have completed in my art class.

Do drop in with your valuable feedback on the same. I would love to hear from you.

Good night and have a creative week ahead:)

Coconut Choco Bars

Hi !!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Holi.  I had planned to prepare sweets (gujiyas, ladoos etc.) to celebrate the festival, but since my kids are having their exams,  I simply couldn't take out time to do the preparation. But still I was persistent. Wanted to make something ... easy and less complicated and something which I have not tried.. Little search in the net and I came across this wonderful recipe in Pinterest & the link is here

I have named this recipe Coconut Choco Bars. This is such an easy recipe & you don't need a long list of ingredients to make the same.

Ingredients

Dessicated Coconut Powder - I cup

Milkmaid - 1/4 cup

Melted chocolate - to dip the bars

Method

You just need to mix the coconut powder and milkmaid and refrigerate it for few hours.

Make bars from the mixture

And now for my favorite step. Just dip the bars in the melted chocolate.....

Let the bars rest in the fridge for a while ...... & it is ready to eat :)

Return to blogland..

Hi !!!

Its been two months ,but I still can't believe that my brother is no more. He was just 47 yrs. I am in a state of shock. My heart is not able to accept the fact that he is not there anymore. That I wouldn't be able to speak to him anymore. I feel as if I have lost my father for the second time. Because that's what he was for me.

I was very young when I lost my father. At that point of time both my brother & I were studying. But my brother left his college halfway and started working to take care of me & my mother. He supported me to complete my  schooling & higher education. After my mother expired in 2004 he was my emotional anchor. Someone I would look up to when I was in a problem. His untimely demise has saddened me and has broken me emotionally. I know time is a big healer and with gods grace this period will pass.  He was such a kind soul and I hope and pray that may his soul RIP.

Creatively my mind has not been working, but still I have tried to  give this old wine bottle a new look. I have given it a hut look with a door and village belle standing besides the door. All this work has been done with shilpkar (m-seal) and have used acrylic colors to paint it.

Photo frame

Hi Friends !!

Today I am going to share with you another photo frame decorated with shilpkar.

Shilpkar / M-seal is very easy to use. You just need to mix the white and the black portion properly and it is ready to use. Mould flower/figures of your choice and place it directly on the surface you want to decorate.

These beautiful bouquet of flowers is inspired from pinterest.

I have used acrylic colors to paint the flowers.

Here is another painting in colored pencil medium which  I have just completed in my drawing class. Thanks to my teacher who puts in lots of effort and time to teach me art.
