My new experiments :))

Hi !!!

Hope you all are doing good...:)

We have been enjoying rains  since two days..... & the climate in Delhi has suddenly become more pleasant... From extreme hot weather it has now become more bearable... Hope it stays this way for few more days..:))

Today I am going to share my watercolour painting & some embroidery using bullion stitch.

Firstly lets talk about my watercolour creation... I love watercolour very much but somehow practising it everyday doesn't seem possible... And after a while when I paint I feel i have forgotten the minute details, the shading part dark side lighter side etc... So by the time I am done with my painting that sense of surety is somehow lacking ... 

This is how it looks.... The drawing ref is from Pinterest... The original work is done in pencil shading which I have interpreted in watercolours. Hope you will like it .

Now coming to my embroidery.... I love it very much but its proving very taxing for my eyes....thats why nowadays I don't work much on needlework.. I am working on these designs for somebody who has asked me to make it for them.....

Embroidery on Cushion Cover

Hi !!

I have been taking too much time to complete my cushion covers. I have already completed three cushion covers ( have shared the pics of the same in my earlier post).

Finally I got a chance to get back to my embroidery & I was able to finish off another cover. I have gone with simple flower embroidery using lazy daizy stitch n long & short stitch. Have used silk threads for the same and this is how it looks.

I have three more covers to go. Hopefully will get sufficient time to finish it off before I get bored with them or something else gets into my mind:)))

My Embroidery work :)

Hello everyone !!!

Hope you are all doing good. 

After doing lot of arty projects now I have decided to switch over to embroidery work... just to break the monotony.

I have got few cushion covers stitched long time back. Initially I had planned to do fabric painting on the same... but later on decided to do some embroidery work on it.

So my first cushion cover is complete. Took me approx. a week to complete this but still I am feeling happy with the end result.

As you can see I have combined Kantha stitch with cast on stitches for the roses. This is the first time I have used silk threads for the embroidery work.

Happy Basant Panchami !!!

Hi!!!!

A very Happy Basant Panchami to all of you. 

Today we worship Goddess Saraswati (goddess of knowledge, music, art & learning). Seated on white Lotus she symbolises light, knowledge & truth. Holding Veena(musical instrument) in her hand Goddess Saraswati reinforces the importance of music & rhythm in life. Her bahon (vehicle) is white swan which portrays purity and perfection and her ability to distinguish between good and evil.

Coming on to my WIPs I have just completed my needlework project.

Even though some of my stitches have not come out so clean but for the time being I am happy with the fact that I have finally finished the same. Here I have used long & short stitch, chain stitch, fishbone stitch & french knots. I have also added crochet pompom edging to the same.. courtesy Pinterest.

I am also working on this madhubani painting. Outlining is finished & now it needs colour. Hopefully I will share the complete  painting in my next blogpost.

My Embroidery Work...

Hello !!!

I always refrain myself from doing needlework project simply because I find it very tedious & time consuming. Even though I did some embroidery work as a souvenir for my friends living abroad, but it is not my favourite subject. This year I have decided to brush up my embroidery skills & have started with this small cover.

My embroidery stash is quite limited so I am trying to manage with whatever colours I have :))

You can see I have used various shades of brown, my leaves are multicoloured green, blue, olive green...... You can see as I am going further the size of my flowers are becoming smaller (meaning I am getting impatient:-)) But I am persistent & hopefully would be able to complete this ..

Also made this wall hanging for my son's school project from waste CDs. 

I covered the CD with jute thread & painted it yellow as it is their class theme. After that I attached mirrors in the centre & stones in the corner and finally finished it by attaching off white satin ribbon.

Hello 2017 !!!

Hello & A  Very Happy New Year to all my blogger friends!!:)

I hope this New Year brings in Happiness & Good Health for all.:))

2016 didn't end on a good note for me, as there was another death in my family:(. And I was not able to concentrate much on my wips.

I have just completed my fabric paintings on cushion cover which I started in Nov'16 . For details plz visit ( http://luvforcrafts.blogspot.in/2016/11/fabric-painting.html).

I also tried liquid embroidery to add a bit of variety. This pattern is internet inspired & still needs drying.

This is again liquid embroidery in geometrical pattern with decorative stones.

I also completed my Madhubani painting of Goddess Lakshmi Ji . I added few warli figures in the corner to give a fusion effect.

Doodling is my new passion these days. So whenever I have some time I try to practise the same. These are few samplers that I have tried :)

Playing with stitches ......

Thank you all for your lovely comments / feedback on my previous blog post. Glad to know that you liked my little experiment with traditional art forms. I plan to take out some more time for painting in coming days.

Recently, I found these beautiful decorative embroidery hoops in my craft stash. So I decided to do some needlework for a change. A bit risky for my patience level..:))) still went ahead with it. Since I didn't want to do my project using regular stitches, I indulged myself with few Brazilian Embroidery patterns. Here I must mention that I don't consider myself very good in this, but in terms of learning something new I think I have done OK......

In this one I have made roses using bullion stitch and  leaves using fly stitch.

In the other one, I have incorporated various stitches... like for the flower I have used picot stitch, french knot for the centre of the flower, lazy daisy for the leaves and few bullion stitches for the buds. For the border I have combined chain stitch with buttonhole stitch & overlapped it with lazy daisy stitch. 

All these patterns are inspired from Pinterest, Mary Corbets http://www.needlenthread.com/ , http://rosaliewakefield-millefiori.blogspot.in/ & few youtube videos.

Peacock in Embroidery

Hi ...............

I am doing this blog post with mixed emotions. Mixed emotions because i am feeling very happy as today I am finally able to share my 2 month long project in embroidery. But at the same time I have some bad news to share. My brother-in-law's month long fight with life finally came to end on this Monday ie 4th March 2013. He was like a elder brother to me and he and my father shared the same name. He was a very nice soul and I will miss him. I just hope and pray that wherever he is, he is happy and at peace.

Since last Dec I haven't been able to do much. This was the only thing that I have been busy completing. I have redone this 3-4 times.... and I hope that this has come out well finally. This is the completed version.  So what do you think ?????????????

I have used silk and metallic threads and multiple stitches in this. Like for the neck section and the upper portion of the feathers I have used chain stitch..

                                           

For the body portion I have used a combo of button hole stitch and long and short stitches.

For the feathers I wanted a 3D look, so I picked up cast on stitch from Mary Corbet's http://www.needlenthread.com. A must visit for embroidery lovers or those who wants to learn embroidery or are looking for new ideas.

                           

For the legs and crown (sorry......... the pics got hazy) I  used golden, black and green metallic colored thread and decorated it with yellow colored small stones.For the eyes also I used the same stone.

I will be going to my in-laws place for a week-10 days for the last rites so there will be no blog post for some time now.

Embroidery work on Cushion Covers

Hi friends !!!

This is in continuation to my previous blog post whereby I had shared few pics of embroidery work on cushion covers. I have done four more covers. So now my set of six covers is complete.. I have tried different designs on all of them trying to incorporate as many stitches as I could like satin,chain,long & short, outline stitch etc.

The designs that you can see below are the same that I shared with you previously. Unfortunately, the picture seems blurred.  In case you have not seen them, you can visit my previous blog post to have a clearer view of the same.

Embroidery Work

Hi !!!

Today I am going to share with you my first embroidery project. 

For the outline I have used black beads.


Though the project was a bit huge & tiresome for a novice like me, but I immensely enjoyed making it. For  the embroidery stitches I refered to Mary Corbet's http://www.needlenthread.com/. She has detailed info./videos on various stitches which makes learning quite simpler.
