My sketch book - Madhubani Painting

Hi !!!!

After a long long time I painted most commonly used motif in madhubani - peacock.... the most graceful and beautiful bird.. This time I have tried fusion of two art forms  ie, madhubani with warli art. Even though I am not an expert in warli art but still I have used few simple borders/designs and incorporated them in the painting. Since these are all traditional art forms I hope that I haven't disrespected either of the art forms and have managed to place them aptly thus, complimenting each other.  This time in addition to acrylic colours I have also tried using water colour pencils as I feel it has more shades to offer. have used acrylic colours & water colour pencils.

This is the final result ........... How does it look ????????

I also sketched this landscape in watercolours using line & wash technique.

Crochet Doily

Hi !!!

Sharing with you this pink coloured doily which I made using steel hook size no. 7 and thread size no. 10.

Approx. size is 14" in dia. & you can find the pattern HERE.  Even though the pattern has few more lines to go but I had to stop here because I ran out of thread and couldn't find anything in matching shades to go with it......

Thanks for dropping by :)

Till next time take care and have a nice day :)

Bottle Art

Hi !!!

Hope all of you had a colourful holi and are now enjoying the long weekend:)

I am back with another bottle makeover. I think I am gradually getting addicted to this art. Transforming old, used bottles  gives me acute satisfaction.

This time I have experimented with lippan work (traditional work of Gujarat). Also known as Mud Mirror Art, it is the traditional mural art of kutch. Villagers living in this area decorate the walls of their mud houses through this art work. This traditional wall art has now become the part of modern home decor.

Here I have used shilpkar for the pattern and mirrors of different shapes and sizes for decoration. Since the traditional lippan kaam is white in colour so I have also kept it white.

Crochet Square Doily

Hi !!!

Hope all of you are doing good and busy shaping your creativity:)

Its always hectic during this time of the year due to exams...... and honestly, I haven't been able to do much on the creative front.

My shawl has not progressed at all :(  And I have this bad habit of hopping from one project to another. So I started working on this square doily which I found on Pinterest. The pattern is quite simple and easy to make.

Have used 7 no crochet hook size and it measures 14" x 14". You can find the pattern HERE. The multicoloured border is not part of the pattern. Its my own variation.

In my sketchbook I sketched rapunzal . I enjoyed it very much. Have used water coloured pencils for this.

There is another thing I would like to share with you... this birthday card . My  younger son Shlok made this for our neighbour's son. I hope he does this more often rather than playing computer games...:)

Well  that's all I have to share for today. Thanks for dropping by and leaving your lovely comments on my post:)

Take care and have a creative week ahead :)

Paper-mache creativity

Hi !!!!

Hope all of you are enjoying your weekend:))

In may last blog post I told you about my paper mache project.

And this is what I have created. I have used egg trays to make paper mache clay and have made these coasters. My first lot didn't come out so well, but my second attempt was successful. I have painted madhubani motifs on it and have used acrylics colours .

In case you want to try this out you can follow this well described DIY HERE. :-)

What do you think ?????????

I am still working on my crochet shawl and this is how far I have reached......... Hopefully I would be able to complete it soon.... until of course I get distracted with some other project in between  :-))

Bottle makeover

Hi !!!!

A big thanks to all my readers for your lovely comments on my last post:).

At last......  my bottle makeover is complete

This is how I innovated the bottle.

I don't know if it is quite visible to you, but on the front I have also added a branch with few flowers on it ( i can't seem to do without them:-)) Once the colours gets dried, I need to put a coat of clear varnish on it.

Next time I want to try bottle painting..... If any body has tried it earlier do let me know how it works.....

In my sketchbook I did flowers with coloured pencil shading

See you next time with another crafty project..

Till then take care and keep smiling :)
