This & that .........

Hi !!

Winter is dawning gradually and it feels good to just laze around with a hot cup of coffee doing nothing :). And thats exactly what I have been doing. Lots of WIPs ........  in the pipeline :) The only good thing is that I have managed to finish off this shawl. I also made a matching cap to go with it. Its a very simple & easy shawl made using  no. 5 tulip hook.  This was a gift for a 3 yr old baby girl.

Now coming to the WIPs ........ I have started another crochet triangular shawl

the design is net inspired and its for one of my dear friend.

I have been always attracted to bottle art and creatively I feel very satisfied when I am able to give a new look to an used bottle. I have been holding on to this wine bottle for quite some time and finally took out time to get started. Right now it looks like this... pls ignore the mess in the background :(

I also need to complete few of my madhubani paintings, Will share with you once I have finished them.

Recently I have also started learning canvas painting & this is my first sketch... hibiscus flowers. How does it looks ?????

Thanks for dropping by :) Do leave your comments on the above and till next time enjoy.... :)

Getting back to blogging......

Hi friends !!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Diwali...  & are still enjoying it :)  Today when I am writing my blog, I am having mixed emotions. Coming back to blogging, festive fervour makes me feel happy, But on the other hand I am feeling anguished because todays my brother's birthday, and he is no longer there to celebrate it. Its been a year since he has gone, but the pain is still there......... same as ever :(.  I just hope & pray that wherever he is, he is at peace.

This diwali we did lots of diya painting......:)

tried rangoli for the first time (not so good I must say:( )

and my kids made chocolate pudding from youtube :)

I also made few Madhubani paintings. Simple mythological designs, motifs and bright colours has made this traditional art form of Bihar very popular among the art lovers,  not only in India but also abroad.

The first one is of a girl plucking flowers

This one is of Radha - Krishna

Last one is of sun

Now I feel I  need to shift from painting to some other craft activity. That is why to break the monotony, I have started working on this triangular crochet shawl.

This is again net inspired and hopefully I would be able to finish it off soon.

My sketch book

Hi !!!!

A very big thanks to all of you for your lovely comments on my last post  :)

Today in my sketch book section ,I am going to share another painting which I have done with dry pastels.

This is the first time I am working with this medium. I am finding this very interesting because in this case you need to spread the colour by smudging it with your fingers. This medium has its own beauty. Its very soft and provides a a kind of rough, unrefined and artistic look to the sketch.  I have done the detailing work with charcoal pencil.

Yesterday, was my elder son's 16th birthday and the reason I am sharing this news with you is this beautiful card ........

which was made my younger son. He is not into art & craft so much, but he wanted to gift his brother  something special, so he made this beautiful quilled card.I just helped him with the arrangement of flowers.        Doesn't it looks nice ?????

Do drop in with your comments and till next time keep smiling !!!:)

My sketch book - Pencil Shading

Hi !!! :)

Sketching has slowly & steadily become a part of my every day routine. It is extremely satisfying to know that finally I am able to sketch with more confidence and clarity. Still... I have a long way to go before I reach a point where I can draw like a pro. :)

Today I am going to share a still life sketch, from my sketch book. This is in pencil shading medium. Let me know how it looks...

Also there are few WIPs  which I would like to share with you. This is a thread doily which I found in Pinterest. Usually, I like to follow written pattern, as it is easier for me to understand, but this pattern is in diagram form..... something that is cumbersome for me to decipher:) Maybe that is why I have been sitting on this project for toooo long.... Hopefully, I would be able to finish it off soon.

The second one is from my sketch book. Again a still life. Originally, in pencil shading, I am trying to do this differently,  in coloured pencil shading to make it more lively.

Will get back to you with complete picture.

Till next time take care and have a creative week ahead!!!:)

Pot Makeover (DIY)

Hello friends !!!:)

This is yet another old pot that was lying at my home and I have re-decorated it to give it a  new look.It is almost 7-8 years old  and as you can see it was in a pretty bad shape. I had given a ceramic clay base on this earthen pot to give it a textured, uneven look and had then painted it and glued some mirrors on it. It did look beautiful...... but at that time didn't think of taking any pics of the same.

I started with painting the entire pot blue. Since I couldn't do anything about the ceramic base... I had to leave it as it is.

Next, I added flowers and leaves made from shilpkar / m-seal and painted it with acrylic colours..... Lastly,  I gave a wash of clear varnish  and

This is how it looks now :)  I am happy with the outcome , but what do you think ?? Let me know ......

Would also like to wish everybody a very Happy Independence Day !!!!:)

My Sketch book - Coloured Pencil Drawing

Hello !!!! :)

Hope all of you are doing well and are in the best of health. Its monsoon time in my city and I must say I am enjoying it very much.

I have a feeling that maybe art bug has finally got into me as I have been sketching regularly and my blog posts also confirms the same. Can't say I am happy about it, but....... still I feel my crafty projects are lagging behind.  Does this happens with you too ????? Do you also feel the same thing??? .......

Today I am sharing with you this coloured pencil drawing which I got from Ravi Paranjpe's book. He is a famous artist and this book is a compilation of his selected works in oil pastels & pencil colours.

Please share your views on the above. I would like to hear from you.

Till next time take care & have a nice week ahead :)

My Sketch book

Hello !!!!

Monsoon has finally arrived in the Capital and the temp. has dipped dramatically... Good time to take out my sketch book & practice...

This is a village girl carrying water - Madhubani style. This is first time I have tried to create some thing like this on my own and I am happy with the outcome.:)

This is another sketch of a colony lane. I got this from a book, & have given it a monochrome look. I have given a base of water colour and then highlighted the same with pencil colours using different shades of brown.  I hope I have got the perspective right.

Do drop by & let me know how it looks :)

Till next time bye and have a nice week :)
