Warli Drawing

Hi !!!

This is a warli painting which I finished yesterday:). I had made this drawing keeping Janamashtami in mind, but due to time constraints I couldn't complete it.

I have done this on A4 size canvas pad using acrylics colours. This time I have been careful with the background colour &have painted it golden yellow using water colours and for the warli figures, have used red acrylics colour using 0 no. brush.

I think that this time around results are much better.

Let me know how it looks:)

Enjoy your Sunday:)

Playing with stitches ......

Hello!!!

Thank you all for your lovely comments / feedback on my previous blog post. Glad to know that you liked my little experiment with traditional art forms. I plan to take out some more time for painting in coming days.

Recently, I found these beautiful decorative embroidery hoops in my craft stash. So I decided to do some needlework for a change. A bit risky for my patience level..:))) still went ahead with it. Since I didn't want to do my project using regular stitches, I indulged myself with few Brazilian Embroidery patterns. Here I must mention that I don't consider myself very good in this, but in terms of learning something new I think I have done OK......

In this one I have made roses using bullion stitch and  leaves using fly stitch.

In the other one, I have incorporated various stitches... like for the flower I have used picot stitch, french knot for the centre of the flower, lazy daisy for the leaves and few bullion stitches for the buds. For the border I have combined chain stitch with buttonhole stitch & overlapped it with lazy daisy stitch.

All these patterns are inspired from Pinterest, Mary Corbets http://www.needlenthread.com/ , http://rosaliewakefield-millefiori.blogspot.in/ & few youtube videos.

Please drop in with your comments on the above....

Have a great week ahead :) and A very Happy Independence Day to all you lovely ladies !!

My Sketchbook

Hi!!!

Sharing with you these two paintings which I did on leftover handmade sheets.

In this one I  have tried to create fusion between madhubani & warli art forms..I have used madhubani borders and have drawn the sun in warli form accompanied with few warli figures. I have tried this before & you can find it HERE.

The second  is a proper warli painting but it didn't turn out exactly what I had envisioned. So I am feeling a bit disappointed. Will try to do better next time :))

Which one do you like the most ???? Let me know your opinion :)

Till next time enjoy & have a great weekend :)
